The mind is the key to effective and appropriate movement. With a focus on developing the 'flow state' and 'unconscious competence' the FluidBody module draws all of the previous training together with a focus on breathing methods to teach the mind to be present.

About the Fluid Body

Fluidity and our ability to flow with the every changing requirements of the fight can mean the difference between success and failure. Far from being something that ‘just comes with time’, this attribute of the top performers is trainable. In the FluidBody training we focus on solo mind training via targeted breathing work, partner work, with innovative drills and concepts, to build the flexibility of mind that allows us to access 'flow state'.


The FluidBody is achieved when the practitioner can reliably enter the 'moment' and act appropriately in accordance with the changing conditions they find themselves in. The FluidBody attribute is linked to the qualities of awareness, mindfulness, freedom, adaptability and flow.

Mental health is a key component in our ability to manage stressful situations. The FluidBody training will help you to recognise that 'change' is the normal state of things and be able to move through stressful environments without being mentally inhibited by them. This work is extremely useful for active competitors who struggle with pre-fight nerves or those who work in high stress environments.

They greatest moments in all combat sports come from the spontaneous execution of technique at exactly the right time. The skill of being completely in tune with the moment and the ever changing conditions of the fight is perhaps the greatest tool that the fighter or martial artist can develop. It doesn't matter how powerful the fighter is if they use that power at the wrong time. The FluidBody helps you to zoom in on the moment and take advantage of the conditions you find yourself in.

FluidBody training is focused on training our minds to reliable be present in the moment. The methods we employ to train this quality are wide and varied but are all focused on either observing the mind or placing ourselves in highly changing circumstances. There is a large focus on utilizing the breathing to guide our mind, awareness training to observe the moment and moment to challenge the awareness. The various drills and techniques will enhance our ability to 'change' and 'flow. Although apparantly very simple, this work is perhaps the hardest in the entire MartialBody syllabus.
